Santiago the "African"

Our local speaking guide will pick you up at 9pm at your accommodation and take you on a discovery tour all over the island of Santiago, the most African island of Cape Verde. At first, you are going to visit Cidade Velha where everything started 500 years ago with the colonialisation and the slavery trade. This village is very rich in culture and is a designated UNESCO world heritage site.

Afterwards, you will drive to Assomada, the second largest city of Santiago and known as the former home of Amilcar Cabral, the cape verdean freedom fighter and national hero.

On the way to Tarrafal, the well-known beach area of Santiago you will pass the national park "Serra Malagueta" with its bizarre mountain scenery. After a short lunch break on the picturesque beach of Tarrafal and a refreshing bath in the sea we bring you back to your accommodation. So, don't forget your swimwear! You will be back about 5 pm.
